Our captaincy article is back to help you choose the right captain for game week 28. This year we are using data from the RMT Adviser’s algorithm and our experience to make our recommendations.
Rate My Team Adviser’s algorithm picks
Romelu Lukaku
In a week with limited choice due to the numerous blanks Everton’s Lukaku offers a pretty decent option. Lukaku is in good form having scored 6 goals in his last 4 games and found the net last week against Spurs from what seemed like his only real opportunity.
A home game with West Brom this week makes Lukaku the Adviser’s top projected point scorer with 5.9 projected points. As far as goals are concerned the Adviser’s algorithm is also pretty confident in Lukaku finding the net with the following projections
1 goal 34.4%
2 goals 10%
3 goals 1.8%
Sadio Mane
The most in form of Liverpool’s midfield players continued his good recent run with a goal, assist and 3 bonus points in last week’s win over Arsenal. Mane is the RMT Adviser’s 2nd pick for captaincy this week with 4.96 projected points and the following goal predictions:
1 goal 23%
2 goals 2.8%
3 goals 0%
Liverpool at home against Burnley really should be a comfortable home win but Liverpool have struggled a little against teams like Burnley lately specifically losing to Swansea and Hull. However I think they will get the job done this weekend and giving one of their attacking assets the captains armband isn’t a bad idea at all.
Fergie’s Picks
Fernando Llorente
I’m going to tip the Swansea forward as a captain option based on his excellent recent form. 3 goals in his last 2 games and 5 in the last 6 are strong numbers for any forward. Swansea have really turned a corner under Paul Clement and look like they have every chance to save themselves which wasn’t the case under the previous management.
This isn’t a week where we are spoiled for big name captaincy options so a bit of creativity is a good thing. Swansea are away at Hull in what will be a big relegation 6 pointer so I’m tipping goals in this one and with the likes of Siggy helping supply the service you might just find that Llorente turns out to be a clever differential captain.
Going with Mane, Mane the man, hopefully, need to make up 100 points on my ML leader, he does not have Mane, has Lukaku though, hope Lukaku trolls this week.
Firmino doubtful, Phillips out……I am left with 5 players and that includes 8 pts combo of Evans and Lukaku….no hope this GW.
@GoalMachine Wait, what Firmino doubtful? The player I brought back in this gw for a hit
The very same one I took out for a hit for Sterling last gw?
That’s some Jonah luck that is
My Rules team. I already brought in Gray and Mawson. I need another defender for Luiz.
@IvanTheTerrible Matip
@Zaid
Nice one
Having no player from Swansea City is making me nervous
Llorente and Sigurdsson will probably spoil my gameweek
@Zaid Don’t forget young Tom Caroll
@Elmer Fudd Yeah, him too… Will get his first goal for Swansea
@Zaid with Siggy, Maguire & Jaku I’d be happy with a hull clean sheet & siggy blank! But no llorente is a worry too.
Thanks Fergie, I’m with ya on Llorente
Never thought I’d see the day where my gw relied on triple Swansea
@Elmer Fudd seems all the jonahs are cpt lorenze lol, not sure if thats a good thing or a dissaster
@midnightrunner Sounds like carnage
@Elmer Fudd soz Llorente but you knew what i meant right lol
@midnightrunner I picked up Llorente 2 wks ago and hope he does well but Lukaku is the most explosive potential guy, therefore he is capt. all day.
How about Andy Carroll?
