Fantasy Football First 2016/17 Site Team for Game Week 31

My team was nominated as the official Fantasy Football First team. My job is to tell you how and why I have picked certain players and formations for the Fantasy Premier League, and explain my reasoning behind any changes along the way. This article explains the changes I have made to my team and why.

How did I do in game week 30?

Game week 30 was not a great week for most of us. If you recall, I was particularity concerned with my midfield, and my concerns turned our to be correct. I only scored 46 points and at the time of writing my rank has risen slightly by 2.5k places to 74k.

Game week 31

Starting with injuries as always, Mane is injured and unlikely to feature mid-week. Therefore, my first transfer is Mane to Alli. I selected Alli because he had a great game yesterday and because Spurs have some great fixtures with only Arsenal and United posing a significant challenge in the next 9 games – and both of those fixtures are at White Hart Lane.

I also feel that I need to address some weaknesses in my time, whilst simultaneously preparing for the double game weeks.

  • Swansea have Spurs (H) this game week, followed by two tricky away fixtures against West Ham and Watford, so I would like to move Sigy on.
  • Mirallas seems to be used as Everton’s super-sub. He was unlucky not to score yesterday and is earning points about-right for his price, but the 15-minute cameo performances are denying me a point when he fails to score. Moreover, I can’t depend on him on my bench. Therefore I would like to sell this Toffeeman.

Sanchez has been excellent this season. Today against City he only scored 2 points. Moreover, he played on the wing (as predicted in our captaincy article this week) due to the return of Bug Eyes Ozil. Yet against City, Sanchez still had shots and I feel with the easier fixtures he should do better. Therefore, I would like to bring Alexis back into my team.

Selling Sigy and Mirallas, and buying Sanchez, leaves me with £4.9 for a bench player. Focusing on the upcoming double game week, it makes sense to bring in a Palace player or a Smoggie into my team. Palace have some tough fixtures but are in-form and seem to be clearing the relegation zone. Boro’ have easier fixtures but are not in-form. Therefore, I would prefer to buy a Palace player for my bench slot.

However, I simply don’t have the cash. Moreover, it would be good if I can somehow squeeze Vardy into my team, so I would like to have some cash in the bank. Therefore, I choose De Roon of Boro’.

To confirm, I have sold Mane, Sigy and Mirallas for Sanchez, Alli and De Roon.

I’ll confirm my captain later this week.

Best of luck this week.

    • @FFC You could get Sane instead of Coutinho for some City cover – thing is though you can never tell if Pep will rotate and start Sterling instead.
Also Llorente’s still injured, maybe take a hit for Origi or Carroll (who Slav reckons will probably start) or Benteke – who’s got a DGW in GW34, albeit against pretty tough teams!
Or Zaha (DGW in GW34) for Coutinho and Vardy for Llorente?

    • @FFC I’ve got Coutinho but have no intention of dropping him. Hopefully this illness is a one-week thing only. I have the mighty de Roon to step off the bench if he’s crocked again. So Allen would be a good first sub.

The Llorente switch is harder with the money you have – Origi springs to mind, or possibly Benteke? I have a feeing CP will give Arsenal a good game and they have the DGW looming.
